Vernon Jane

Vernon Jane are a Jazz Punk band from Dublin, who have grown from strength to strength since their first EP release ‘The Inner Workings Of A Damaged Nobody’ in 2016. The release led to a sold-out show in The Opium Rooms, and multiple festival appearances including Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Liverpool Sound City, and a headline slot at Knockanstockan in 2016.

2017 brought Vernon Jane's biggest success thus far in their single ‘Fuck Me’. The animated video for ‘Fuck Me’ went viral across multiple websites including Reddit and NewGrounds which resulted in the views of the video increasing from 5,000 to 50,000 views overnight on YouTube. This publicity led to contact from a record label in China ‘Pocket Records’ and the band have recently signed a deal which will see their music distributed across multiple platforms in the growing Chinese market.

However, it is Vernon Jane's live show which has people coming back for more. The intensity, creativity and hard work Vernon Jane put in behind the scenes is the reason why they sold out Whelan's Main Room with the release of their single ‘Fuck Me’ in early 2017. After a summer of song writing in New York, and finishing the year with over 100,000 plays on Spotify, Vernon Jane have recently sold out The Sugar Club for their last release April 2018.

Opium Rooms. Whelan’s. Sugar Club. What’s next for this little band from Dublin?

The Magnapinna

The Magnapinna, disciples of the Order of Teuthida, are a 5 piece alternative rock group from Cork City, they like to dress sharp and play loud.

The groups sound and performance has been likened to Talking Heads meets the Dead Kennedys with elements of disparate genres peppered throughout their set. While they strive not to be pigeon-holed, their sound is rooted in heavy rock with a healthy dose of humour thrown in for good measure.

The Magnapinna have gigged the length and breadth of the country since 2015 and are planning to stretch their tentacles towards the UK and Europe later this year. Their latest EP "This is No Wave" released in May 2018  is available to stream/buy on bandcamp.

Alien She

Alien She is Katie O’Neill (solo experimental artist) on vocals and guitar, Aoife McDonagh (poet and writer) on bass and vocals, and Darragh McCabe (Jon Dots) on drums. Playing songs that have been described as expressive, shoegaze, experimental, and agitated punk — Alien She prides themselves on their unique genre-defying sound. The Thin Air has described the trio as “a mixture of raw and relentless energy which manifests itself in a number of different manners… their constant progression and experimentation prevent the group from reproducing same-sounding tracks, keeping their sound fresh.”

The band has just released their searing debut album, Feeler, on Art For Blind Records. The Last Mixed Tape gave the album a 9/10 and Remy called the release “like an out of control rocket.” In 2017, they supported Priests and Pussy Riot and are now focusing on recording their second album.

— Upset Magazine

"Bursting with explosively catchy tunes"

— Kerrang Radio

"Destined for mainstream success."

— Punktastic

“Well, Fang Club are here to bring the rage and they're doing a bang-up job of it. The grunge outfit from County Dublin have packed an awful lot of noise into their two-minute single Bullet Head and it is just glorious.”

— Joe.ie

“Bullet Head spends all of 123 seconds blasting your skull with a bludgeoning grunge rock riff that'll make you want to hit repeat.”

— Nialler9

"Amphetamined, take no prisoners rock with pop hooks that Brian Wilson would be proud of.”

— On Steven King and his bandmates, Hot Press

“The fabulous Fangclub are a band who are bringing back guitar-laden sounds, rebelling against the electro blips and making some great tunes besides.”

— Irish Mirror

"No-nonsense poppy hooks over punishing riffs... The time is now to bare your teeth and join the club."

— Hot Press

“Fangclub win you over with their sheer enthusiasm and infectious melodies... That initial ripple Fangclub have caused in the pond is set to become a tsunami."

— Golden Plec

"This is a band you want to see in a small venue that’s been packed up to the rafters, their music echoing and pouring out into the streets. Their music is about a 'moment,' mainly, that beautiful and wonderful moment where you feel like the world outside of the venue has ceased to exist."

— Dingus NYC

"Stripped back and very together, echoing early Foo Fighters or Greenday... a great sign of things to come from these!"

— Radio Nova

FOXTALES

FOXTALES

The full origins of this band are somewhat lost to the annals of time. This is most likely due to memory loss from partying in first year of college but some research has been done via looking through embarrassing Facebook pictures and going through old text messages translated by guess work. It is fact that two of the band members met in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa , cork city while dossing from a lecture on Law. There was also a third member ,who was part of the early stages of “foxtales” ... which was known as “Boots&cats”,who was a poet and a lunatic . Badly named and badly organised the band went from pub to pub looking for open mic nights to earn free pints of beer which didn't generally help with performances but made for good laughs and general cheer. The band had some success on the streets of cork city after the hour of 12 am busking to rambling crowds of students who may have just been throwing coins at the trio to damage instruments and facial features... the facts are not clear.
After college the trio disbanded and didn't see each other for a few months which was for the best as tensions had run high due to the constant changing of arrangements during performances. Gemma went back to karaoke, kyle got a gig as a trad backing guitarist and Cathal resided in dingle town as a minstrel and sometime troubadour. more to come ...

JAMES & THE NORTH SHORE - MEAGAN MAY

JAMES & THE NORTH SHORE - MEAGAN MAY

James & The North Shore released an 8 song debut via Factotum CO titled “Lover? I Barely Know Her”. Recorded live from the floor, the album displays the band at their most honest and raw. James Bryan’s stark lyrics and delivery are reminiscent of a Leonard Cohen or Jason Molina. The North Shore provide the backbone that guides the ship. Sometimes they veer into wildness, other times into calm. Cohesively the group form a folk sound with sub-Celtic influences and a working class ethos that recalls Billy Bragg.
The group toured across Canada in the fall of 2017 and are touring Europe in May/June 2018
