Annie will discuss the impetus for making this installation which looks at the conversion of a bio rich landscape to one of sterile industrial farming. This body of work explores the theme of solastalgia – the grief/disruption experienced, emotional or existential, caused by environmental change.
She will talk about the practical aspects of working with other makers who created sound, bronze and glass and her own studio practice of processing pigments from the deconstructed landscape, including charcoal from a 300 year old hawthorn stump.
