Inspired by the beautiful poem by Palestinian poet and professor Refaat Alareer, this event is part of the international kite flying movement for the children of Gaza. Flying kites in Gaza has been a tradition for children and a symbol of hope for decades. In 2011, more than 12,000 children in Gaza flew kites on the beach, setting a new world record for the most kites flown simultaneously.
